Frequently Asked Questions
The Sauna Lab is a luxury infrared sauna studio. Clients can enjoy sweat sessions in infrared sauna box, infrared sauna pod, or infrared sauna blanket all in the tranquil setting of our private sauna rooms.
We are all exposed to hundreds of chemicals a day in the air we breathe, the items we touch, what we apply to our skin, and what we eat and drink. Not all these chemicals can be processed adequately by the body, nor can an endless amount or number of them be handled at one time. Some are even poisonous to the point of damaging critical parts (such as liver enzymes) that are supposed to detoxify our bodies. By implementing the use of an infrared sauna session into your weekly routine you can help your body rid itself of these devastating toxins.
A traditional sauna uses dry heat to warm the air around you, which induces sweating. This can aid in weight loss, but it has shown that the weight loss is mainly due to loss of water – or heavy sweating. An infrared sauna heats your body from the inside out, promoting detoxification and increased your heart rate. Infrared sauna use results in more calories burned in a shorter period of time.
There are no major risks associated with sweating for individuals with average health. If you are worried, please consult your doctor before booking a sweat. If you have a chronic condition that makes you sensitive to temperature, recently had an injury and/or undergone surgery of any kind, we recommend checking with your doctor before booking a session. If you have hemophilia we do not recommend sweating. If you are on any medications please check with your doctor (especially if you are on blood thinners). If you have been advised to stay away from heat or have any concerns regarding medical conditions, please talk to your doctor. If you have a chronic condition that makes you sensitive to temperature we recommend checking with your doctor before booking a session. Pregnant women cannot sweat (although its safe after the baby is born!).
Infrared saunas have been proven to aid in weight loss by heating your core temperature to induce sweating. Increases in blood flow and heart rate are a result, which, much like moderate exercise, has shown to help you lose weight. Saunas also help you lose weight by easing aches and pains associated with weight training, helping you get back into the gym the next day. Infrared Saunas are a healthy weight loss solution without exercising. Infrared Saunas burn up to 450 calories in just each 45-minute session.
Everyone is different and for that reason we recommend incorporating sweat sessions into your personal wellness routine. Most people will start to see benefits with at least 1 sweat session per week. For optimal results, we recommend 2-3 sweat sessions per week.
Each sauna session is up to 45 minutes long. Our infrared sauna boxes have 6 preset programs that you can choose from, or you can select a custom 45-minute session.
The first thirty minutes of your sweat session will feel warm and cozy. Most people feel extremely relaxed, maybe even sleepy. The last 15 minutes of the session are more challenging. In that time, your heart rate will likely increase, and you will notice that you are sweating much more.
Everyone is different and this is also true for sweating. We all sweat different amounts. For most people it takes a few sessions to acclimate to the detoxifying process. Also, the more hydrated you are the better you will sweat.
During your infrared sauna box or sauna pod session, we recommend that less is more. Feel free to sweat in your birthday suit if you are comfortable with that. You can also sweat in a swimsuit, or bra and underwear. If you book a session in our infrared sauna blanket, you will be asked to wear long sleeve cotton shirt and pants along with cotton socks.
The Sauna Lab provides towel service and your sauna room we will be equipped with towels for you to towel off with after your session. Hydration is an important part of your sauna session, and we recommend that you bring water into your sweat session.
Please do not make any phone calls or FaceTime during your sweat session. It is a spa like environment and the rooms are close together, so please take the 45 minutes to unplug and relax. Please make sure cell phones are on silent. Bringing your phone into the sauna for use other than phone calls is at your own discretion as phones could potentially overheat.
We provide alkaline water service for our members. If you are not a member, feel free to bring your own water bottle to your sauna session.
While we do have a restroom for you to freshen up in, we do not have showers. It is actually not recommended to shower immediately after your sauna session as you continue to sweat out toxins for up to 60 minutes after your session and showering too quickly will close your pores.
For your first session we recommend arriving 5-10 minutes before your appointment to leave time to complete our new client forms.
We do accept walk-ins. However, we recommend that you book an appointment to guarantee your spot. Just because we accept walk-ins does not mean that we can always accommodate them.
We require a 4-hour notice to cancel appointments. If you do not cancel before the 4 hours, you will be subject to a $25 cancellation fee which will be charge to the card on file.
